Class Policies
Effective Date: June 2, 2026
To ensure a safe, respectful, and productive training environment, all members and visitors must adhere to the following class policies. These policies apply to all programs including Brazilian Jiu‑Jitsu, Boxing, Karate, and Kids Martial Arts unless otherwise noted.
1. Attendance and Punctuality
- Please arrive at least 10 minutes before your scheduled class to allow time for changing and warm‑up.
- Late arrivals disrupt the class. If you arrive more than 10 minutes late, the instructor may ask you to observe rather than participate, at their discretion.
- Consistent attendance is strongly encouraged for skill progression. Members are responsible for managing their own schedules.
- If you need to leave early, inform the instructor before the class begins and depart discreetly.
2. Uniform and Equipment
- BJJ: A clean gi or rashguard and shorts/no‑gi attire are required. Loaner gis are available for trial students. All gis must be free of rips, stains, and odors.
- Boxing: Hand wraps and boxing gloves are mandatory. 16 oz gloves are recommended for sparring. We sell and loan basic equipment. No training without hand wraps.
- Karate: A clean karate gi with belt is required for all students. Beginners may wear comfortable athletic clothing for the first month.
- Kids: Age‑appropriate athletic wear. Uniform requirements are introduced gradually and communicated to parents.
- All personal equipment must be kept clean and in good condition. We reserve the right to refuse participation if equipment is deemed unsafe or unhygienic.
3. Hygiene and Safety
- Personal hygiene is essential. Please shower before training and use deodorant.
- Fingernails and toenails must be trimmed short to prevent scratches and cuts.
- No shoes on the mat. Clean indoor shoes may be used in designated areas only.
- Any open wounds, cuts, or skin infections must be covered securely. Do not train if you have a contagious skin condition.
- Inform the instructor immediately if you feel unwell, dizzy, or injured.
4. Mat Etiquette
- Bow or greet when entering and leaving the mat area as a sign of respect.
- Treat all training partners with respect. No dangerous or uncontrolled techniques.
- Follow the instructor's guidance at all times. Do not teach or correct other students unless asked.
- If you are higher rank or more experienced, you have a responsibility to help keep beginners safe.
- No chewing gum, food, or drinks (except water) on the mat.
5. Kids Class Policies
- Parents or guardians must sign in children at the front desk and remain on‑site during class unless prior arrangements are made with management.
- We maintain a positive, bully‑free environment. Disrespectful behavior will be addressed immediately and may result in removal from class.
- Please notify us of any allergies, medical conditions, or special needs before enrollment.
- Pick‑up must be within 10 minutes of class ending. Repeated late pick‑ups may incur a fee.
6. Class Cancellations
We may occasionally cancel or combine classes due to weather, instructor availability, or holidays. We will notify members via email and post updates on our website and social media. Make‑up classes are not guaranteed but we will offer options when possible.
7. Policy Enforcement
Failure to follow these policies may result in a warning, suspension, or termination of membership at the discretion of management. We are committed to maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for everyone.
